The Unpublished Stories: The Two Nights in which I Saw the Sun Rose (Deep)

Hi readers! I finally have some free-ish time, and I've been planning to write a mid-year reflection (and probably birthday reflection too). However, I'm not really in the mood to write right now, and from past experiences, forcing myself to write when I'm not in the mood either resulted in sub-par posts, or just ended up as draft permanently. So, I decided to look through my old drafts and try to publish them even though they are not really in the best shape to be seen by public. This might be annoying to some readers who wish for continuity in my posts but unfortunately, I can't find a way to edit the date of a post, so you really just have to live with it. (Actually I didn't even try and too lazy to do that so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) ====================== Sometime in September/October 2013, based on the link embedded in the story. ====================== Hi readers!! Finally I am able to make time to write another post here. Just for the sake of records, you know. Y...

Fewest post in a year! + FYP rant

Hi readers! (...tumbleweed...) It's almost the end of the year (not really, still 2 months away, but pretty close) and I realized that I have only posted for like 6 times this year!! Damn.. That's like less than once a month.. What happened to the promise to my friend that I am going to post at least once a month/week? (I can't even remember the promise anymore, nor can I find the post where I mentioned this... Can anyone of you readers help me find it lol) Anyway...

TFW You Realize You Were Dense AF

3 months have passed since the last time I updated my blog. Damn, how time flies! There were a couple of times when I had the urge to post something when I encountered something interesting, but I was either too busy or too lazy and now I have already forgotten what it was about... But now I am having another urge to post something and I happen to be right in front of my computer with Internet connection so.. why not.

Post-Meditation Camp Reflection

Hi readers! It is the end of the year, and I believe most people would be preparing their new year's resolution right around this time. I, on the other hand, have another thing occupying my mind. I have just returned from a 6-days meditation camp at Puncak, and that trip, despite its shortcomings, was nothing less than insightful for me. I understand that I (again) have abandoned this blog for almost 3 months now (last post was on October, I was surprised myself) and I would not do justice if I do not attempt to bring you readers up to speed as of what I have been doing and stuff, but I was doing exactly just that in another blogpost draft and I can't seem to finish what I intended to write in the first place. So now I shall start straight away with what I needed to write down first, and perhaps, close it with some personal updates. The camp was organized by the Vihara I often go to whenever I am in my home country. The camp itself was held between 22-27 December, targeted...

A Crazy Start to A Crazy Semester

Hi readers. Seems like once again, it's been almost a month since my last post. Doesn't matter, since the readership has been falling quite significantly anyway (which may be caused by my low frequency in updating the blog). Anyway, I am currently in need of someone (or in this case, something) that can just listen, not react, just listen, to what I have to say. It is nothing personal, really. It is just the semester ahead looks like going to be eventful, but at the cost of my sleeping time. I shall elaborate why in the subsequent paragraphs. Firstly, it is the modules I am taking this semester. I am taking a Software Engineering (SE) module, which is coupled with another module called Effective Communication for Computing Professionals. Other than that, I am taking a module which is supposedly taken by Year 3 students: Algorithm Design and Analysis. Moreover, I am taking a language module too, Chinese! And not those basic bpmf Chinese, but I jumped to Chinese 3! I guess t...

Exam Aftermath and Summer Plans

Hi readers!! I am so sorry for abandoning this blog for almost the whole semester! I usually try to make time to update this blog on the weekends, but quite a number of my weekends was spent doing "voluntary" work for my country's embassy. Well, I said "voluntary" (as in with apostrophes) because I am getting paid for it, but anyway, it spanned for about 3-4 weeks if I am not mistaken, though they can actually really just use 1 or two weeks at most to train us the volunteers. I should have expected this inefficiency, since it is my country's government we are talking about. Actually I don't really know what to say now that I have the time to post something on this blog. I guess I will just fill you in with what I am up to for the summer, while thinking about more stuff to write, which would be more appropriate for a post after a really, really long hiatus like this one. *sigh* so, plan for the summer. To be completely honest with everybody here,...

Valentine's Day Post.... Not?

Image
Hi readers!! It is such a fine evening and yet here I am in my room writing a blog post to readers that I do not even know exist!! How noble I am for prioritizing you guys over my girlfriend on this Valentine's evening! Okay enough of the bullshit... Yes, I am still single that's why I am here instead of out there having dinner with my significant other. To be honest, after a few years not having any feeling for girls feels okay to me. At least I am not depressed on this Single Depression Day. In fact, I could not be happier. I can have all the time for myself to do whatever I like. And now, although I feel like playing DOTA 2 (yes, I am playing DOTA 2! If you guys up to for a game or two, contact me using the Contact Form on the right!), I feel that I should write to you readers to show my love (awww) on this lovely day. Actually, it is more because I have indirectly promised my friend to update this blog at least once every two weeks and I have already broken my promise on th...

The Big Data Migration

Hi readers! I do not even remember when was the last time I wrote here... Has it been more than one week? University life is indeed very hectic, extremely so such that I lose track of time. Suddenly this coming week is recess week (or in Singapore, is actually "mid-term preparation week") and mid-term exam will follow thereafter. If I am really that busy, why do I even bother to write now, anyway? Well... Because I love you my readers!! <3<3 .......... Nah.... Are there even readers? Is there any reader at all actually? Lol..... Anyway the real reason I write now is because I am waiting for the big data migration, just as what the title says. Well, remember I bought a new laptop last week? (Or was it 2 weeks ago? I seriously lost the track of time!) Yeah, so finally I am able to spend some time looking through my old files and decide which will stay, which will go over to the next laptop, and which will be deleted. It is pretty similar to tidying up your room; you will ...

Not a melancholy post, finally!

Hey readers!! Finally, a more high-spirited post from me! Before I start proper, let me apologize to you readers (if there are any) that my last few posts have been really.... depressing. There were not much to be hyped about in my life thus far, really. Even now, actually my life has not gotten much better. This week (or should I say last week since today is already weekend) is e-learning week. For readers who have not entered university yet would say, "Yay! E-learning! Extra holiday, you mean?" While those who are currently in or have graduated from university (especially Singapore university) would say "I know how it feels, broooo." Yeah, e-learning is not so much fun anymore now that I am in university. E-learning week for me now has turned into "catching-up-with-studies week".  The pace of the lectures is crazy. It is not possible to get a good command on a certain concept before piles of new concepts are bombarded onto you the very next lecture. Thus...

Just Another Emo Post, Avoid If You Are in A Light Mood

Hi everyone! This time, it is really quite a long hiatus since the last time I posted here. Indeed university life is very different from the relaxed life of the 6-month holiday I just went through (you don't say!), even JC! Some of you may have heard the saying that if you can go through JC, you can go through anything in life. WRONG. I would say that the more correct saying is that JC is the preview of what real life (or rather, university life, since I haven't gone to work yet) would be like. Things come and go really quickly and without you realizing it, you missed out on a lot of things even when it is only week 3 of your university life! Anyway, I am posting now not to compare JC and university. Okay so the reason I am posting now is just to create a checkpoint in my university life so far, so that the future me can have a reference of his past, for whatever reason he may have. So far, things have been pretty okay. I took a hardcore "introduction to programming"...

A question about sincerity

Hey readers. This post is once again another emo/melancholy/depressing post of mine. Feel free to close this tab if you do not feel like reading another person's miserable mind or you can also keep reading if you want. Disclaimer, it may make you feel as down as me, hopefully not worse. Just as a background story, my mum, my brother and my sister came to Singapore to visit me, or rather, came to help me bring the stuff that I could not or I forgot to bring when I went to Singapore. Today was the last day of their short visit, which was only one night. After sending them to the airport, as I boarded the train back to my campus, I felt a sudden feeling of deep loneliness. Like, I suddenly felt that I am actually all alone in this world. I remember one of my friend who came to PGPR (the place where I stay in campus) earlier than me said that I should find a girlfriend if I do not want to be lonely here. Indeed he was right. PGPR is a really big residence and the chance of me being in ...

First few days in NUS summarized (specific to me)

Hey, readers. It's been quite some time, again, since the last time I posted here. Just as an update, I am already in Singapore to do my undergraduate studies which would start somewhere in August. I am staying in an on-campus accommodation which turns out to be rather below my expectations. If you readers happen to be Singaporean or intend to stay in NUS, I am in PGPR. If you want to apply for an accommodation here, I suggest you to choose type A. My first few days in my type C room is horrible. I am not sure if it is the weather, but the room is really really hot. There is a ceiling fan, of course, but it does not really help much when there is not even a ventilation; just windows that cannot be opened too widely. Moreover, the fan may even become the source of another problem. It is located right above the bed, so all night long, you sleep while being blown by the wind from the ceiling fan directly. For some people who have a sensitive nose or some other respiratory problems, it...

Best news of my life.... yet

Image
Hey readers!! Firstly, I would like to apologize for, once again, not keeping my promise of writing about my third interview, which was with Ecquaria. I initially wanted to, really. However, there is a really good news that I just do not want to miss a single day to tell the world. Three guesses.. never mind. I am offered the NUS ASEAN Scholarship!!!! =) Don't ask me how I got it. You saw for yourself how I screwed up that interview , really badly. Nevertheless, an offer is an offer, so let us (anyone?) rejoice for my success!!! Actually, now I feel obliged to go back to the temple I mentioned on that post as well, just to show my thanks, if my success is really due to some kind of divine intervention. I need to remind myself to go there if I go back to Singapore. By the way, I would like to apologize for my last post because as it gets increasingly difficult to read as you read more of it. That is because I did it at night (well, all of my post was written at night) and I was rea...

Not the third interview, yet

Hi readers/passer-bys!!! It is really amazing how my blog's pageview always increases tremendously whenever I am away and increases ever so slowly whenever I am actively posting (like once every two days or so). I am pretty sure I only left this blog in less than a week, yet the pageview has exceeded 400! Anyway, I am sure you have noticed how obsessed I am with pageviews. Maybe that number somewhat fulfills my ego as a person to be famous, or accepted, at least. You know, people my age are rather crazy for... being accepted. Especially if you happen to fall at the lower end of the social strata. The thing is, we never really know in which social stratum we fall into. You may think that you are at the lower end though your friends actually think you are somewhere in the middle or maybe slightly higher. Or the other way round. Anyway, I am not going to give you any advice on socializing, since I am having a problem in socializing myself. Well, I believe I have told you in previous p...

Second interview: NUS ASEAN Scholarship

Image
Hi, readers. It is quite a joy to see that my blog has reached more than 200 pageviews while I was away doing... many stuff. Perhaps, even from the first sentence, you would have noticed my... less enthusiastic tone  compared to my previous posts. Well, you guessed it, it's because of my second of the series of interview I am going to have this year did not go well.  Perhaps you are wondering, what is the big deal? You said you screwed up your SUTD interview and yet you were still offered a place there, why this time would be any different? Well, I do not know if I have told you guys this (too lazy to check on the post itself, sorry), but SUTD interview was for both admission and scholarship. While I was offered a place in SUTD, I was not offered any scholarship with the admission offer. You could say that I am satisfactory for admission, but not for scholarship. Even worse, it is possible that I am actually not satisfactory, but it is just that SUTD needs students really, rea...

100th Page Views!!!

Image
Hi readers/passer-by/pageviewers/whatever you want to be called! I proudly announced that my blog has reached 100 pageviews!!! =D Okay, actually, I know it is not so much of a big deal; other blogs can reach thousands of pageviews in a day. But still, for an anonymous, without promotion blog like mine, it is quite an achievement to reach 100 pageviews within a month! Still, I understand that most of the viewers actually just accidentally stumbled upon my this, or maybe some people googling the keyword "sutd interview" opened the second search result page and clicked on this blog by chance. Anyway, I post this not just to write about me being happy and joyful of the 100 pageviews. Remember me wondering why people still searching for "sutd interview" on Google ? Well, I have the answer for that, which is.......*drum roll* because SUTD actually IS STILL conducting interviews!! Below is the evidence that SUTD is still calling out students to come for interview: He is st...
