Shook

Hi readers! You're in for a treat! Two consecutive posts in a month! And a quick closure for yet another of my failed dating attempt, with a twist!

So today I went out with her in the afternoon. She kinda initiated the date - she told me about Lady M on our first date and how she'd bring me there some time, and today was the day.

Well, nothing out of the ordinary for a while. We had a good time talking in Lady M and we decided to walk around Orchard Rd afterwards; initially to find clothes for her but on the way we stopped by Din Tai Fung since she seems to be very keen (missing her hometown's food) and I was a bit hungry for some real dinner (we were in Lady M for quite a while, and it sucked).

Still had a great time in DTF. I liked the satisfied faces she made when she gulped on those 饺子 and 小笼包. She seemed to really miss her hometown (though she was just there 2 months ago before her internship started).

Just before we left, she shared with me some details about how she ended up doing internship in Singapore, which was continued on our way back to the MRT. She told me that she was set up to stay in Shanghai for good with who she referred to as best friend (a guy, not going to live in the same house but nearby). But apparently for one reason or another, the best friend bailed on her and decided to get a job that - according to her - is a huge downgrade and is located in his hometown instead. She was really angry at him but I noticed something strange in the story. She said he confessed his feelings but she didn't really give an answer to him. I was so confused: she previously told me she was stoked to finally be able to settle down in Shanghai to stay close with this best friend, but now this guy confessed, she didn't give a straight answer, and then for no reason he bailed on her??? I tried to clarify if this best friend is actually a boyfriend but she instead asked me what do I mean exactly by "boyfriend" and I get even more confused. Not sure what to say, I gave the stupidest answer I could probably come up with: "you two like each other, go out together hold hands and stuff"; and I got an even more shocking answer: "Hold hands? That's so weird." After further questioning (I shall spare you readers from the gory details - they're pretty gory trust me) I conclude that she's asexual. She insisted that she likes looking at pretty guys and pretty girls (more at pretty girls from my time with her so far) but from my gory questioning I'm pretty sure she's actually asexual, or at least asexual borderline lesbian.

Now it all makes sense. Why she so readily accepted my advances. Why she openly asked her where I was on Friday night in the office as if it meant nothing. Why she's not holding back at all when telling her stories.

Or not really. Why did she wait for me to go home on that day? Why would she ask for me on that Friday night? Is it really coincidence that she wanted to go home at the exact same time? Did she really think nothing of it when asking for me on that Friday night?

I don't think I can ever understand girls...

All the best in your life's endeavors.
