Not a melancholy post, finally!

Hey readers!! Finally, a more high-spirited post from me!

Before I start proper, let me apologize to you readers (if there are any) that my last few posts have been really.... depressing. There were not much to be hyped about in my life thus far, really. Even now, actually my life has not gotten much better. This week (or should I say last week since today is already weekend) is e-learning week. For readers who have not entered university yet would say, "Yay! E-learning! Extra holiday, you mean?" While those who are currently in or have graduated from university (especially Singapore university) would say "I know how it feels, broooo." Yeah, e-learning is not so much fun anymore now that I am in university. E-learning week for me now has turned into "catching-up-with-studies week".

The pace of the lectures is crazy. It is not possible to get a good command on a certain concept before piles of new concepts are bombarded onto you the very next lecture. Thus the existence of e-learning, recess, and reading week in my university is really a life line for us students (or maybe it is just me). However, despite the supposedly plenty of time to catch up, I have failed miserably. This is because the pace of the lectures actually stay constant, except now you have the convenience to delay your information-overload state which you get at the end of every lecture indefinitely. (The lectures are recorded and uploaded online. I am supposed to open them at the same time as my lecture period as if it is a normal school week. I wonder what the difference between e-learning and normal weeks is.)

Anyway, I am writing now because I am currently waiting for my laundry to dry up (the dryers suck big time). In case it is not obvious enough, I need to wait for them to dry up because I dry them on my bed. Yeah. Sad, right?

Nevertheless, not all is bleak and hopeless. In fact, I was quite excited last weekend because..... I just bought a new laptop!!!! (Writing from it now!!!) This baby I bought for S$899 is really good stuff. The colour choice was rather limited, but because of that, at least I am forced to add more colour to my life. Okay, I know it does not make sense, so let us start again. There are only two colour choices for this model: blue or pink. Dumb question. Of course I would prefer a black one, if I had the choice. Nevertheless, I am glad I have this baby because, well, I really need to add more colour to my life, both literally and figuratively. At least I am fulfilling the literally part first.

More about this new baby of mine. On the first night I used her, I played DotA 2 with friends and.... she impressed me! The graphics were a total makeover from my old bro (4 years difference, hello??? Different class some more? - my old bro was G103M, while this baby is GT740M); so at least even though I am still noob at DotA 2, at least now I know what is happening in the battlefield. What's more, because of the new keyboard layout (different brand from my old bro, this new baby), I kept pressing the wrong button. I wanted to press fn but often ended up pressing the start button instead. It immediately went to the start window (the weird live tiles thing) and when I pressed it again, it returned to DotA 2 as quickly, without any hiccup, at all! I love the power of i5 3230M!

Maybe some of you who still use 2 year-old laptops wondering, why do I need to press fn in a DotA 2 game? Well, if you do not know yet, nowadays all Windows laptops mimic the stupid way of implementing quick access done by MacBook. So, about 3-4 years ago, if you need to press F1, you just press F1. Now, if you need to press F1, you need to press fn+F1. That old beloved F1 has now been replaced by some other function that you used to launch by pressing fn+F1, depending on laptop manufacturer. (tl;dr = the F1 button is now reversed in function with the fn+F1 button). So, yeah, to select your hero, open the shop window, and select your courier, you need those Fx (where x is integer) standby you all the time. So on my first game with this baby, I end up clumsily pressing fn and F1 to select my hero, fn and F4 to open the shop etc. I hate Apple for setting up this trend.

Oh I almost forgot, just as a reminder for myself in the future, and to inform readers who care, despite my complaining about being left behind in studies, I applied for a freaking part time work! I am also not very sure why I applied for it. Maybe because I do not have any CCAs, I am desperate to find something else to do other than studying. The natural question would be, "Y U NO CCA???" but that would be for another time, hopefully. Another natural question is, "What's the job? How's the pay?" etc. Another time also, hopefully also. Lol.

Anyway, I guess I have spent enough time writing this to wait for my laundry to dry. Until next time! =D
