Just a filler between the interviews
Hi readers! I am quite sure some of you followers of my blog (if any; I doubt there is any, actually) are rather confused for the seemingly not-linked chain of events happening in my blog. For example, just 2 posts ago I wrote about being employed without knowing the job description and complaining, but on the next post I was talking about my second interview. Well, that is because there is a gap, duh. I do not have time in between to fill you guys in because, well, I do not have the time. I've got a job, and my scholarship interviews are just around the corner. Anyway, now that I have the time, I would fill you guys in what is actually happening in between, and more.
Maybe the first question comes to your mind is, "You said you've got a job and no time, how can you post this, then? Not to mention that it is in the middle of the week!" Well, I have a good answer for that. I asked for leave for indefinitely from 8th May onward. Wow, you may remark, what a kind and understanding employer you have. Well, maybe I have to remind you (or tell you, if you just happen to stumble upon this blog) that I worked at my father's friend's clinic. So everything makes sense now, doesn't it? My job is not that critical for the clinic's operation in the first place, so, nobody is at the losing end. Nobody even asked for the current state of my job so far, even though my father claimed that someone should be in charge of my work and check my work once in a while.
So, as for the next question, nothing much happened in between me being employed to the clinic and the interview. Basically, I decided to accept my fate for having a father who is not much of a listener, and to try making the most of it. It turns out not to be so bad after all; the three junior doctors I am working closely with are all females in their late 20s, so they still look quite.... attractive, though one is already married and one is not.... quite a sight, if you know what I mean. The last one was.... well, pardon my vulgar language, but, well, rather slutty. She visits dating sites and greets all the attractive males there, going for a date with three different guys in a month, going four! Nevertheless, I think she is still a virgin, despite her hobby of dating guys. Or so I hope.
I was placed in a room with the office boys and girls. Actually, it would be more accurate to say office girls and a handful of office boys, since, according to a nurse there, I am the third male employee in the clinic!! You may think that I am in heaven or something, surrounded by women of all ages from all walks of lives, but trust me, you will long for guys' company soon enough. Moreover, they are office girls, people with, beg your pardon, minimum education background. They are nice and cheerful, alright, but I was just too scared to talk too much, fearing that I may say something they do not understand or offend them without knowing it.
Anyway, on the Friday of the week I started working, an e-mail announcing that I am shortlisted for NUS ASEAN scholarship interview came. I was overjoyed to see the e-mail because, well, I am shortlisted for a scholarship interview!! However, admittedly, I am also happy because I get to ask for a leave much earlier, and for a longer period!!
Not that the e-mail from NUS is all happy and well, though. I am required to write an essay and submit it through e-mail, together with my confirmation of attending the interview by Monday. 3 days to do a scholarship essay. The question was not so simple as well: "Discuss, in no more than 300 words, how you would use your key qualities to make significant contributions to the NUS community if you are selected as a scholar?" Key qualities. Significant contributions. NUS community. As a scholar. So many keywords to be addressed in such a few words. Not that I have any idea what key qualities I have to begin with, nor have I any idea of significant contributions I can make. To the NUS community. As a scholar, not just some ordinary NUS student. How cruel of them!
Anyway, I managed to come up with some stupid key qualities and contributions that I do not wish to disclose here, as they were really stupid and laughable. I sent them anyway, since it was the deadline already and I have no other idea of what to write. Then shortly, I flew to Singapore, met with some friends, went to a Chinese temple to pray for my success (my mom asked me to do it. Personally I do not really believe in such things, though I see no harm in that) and the rest is on the previous post.
For now, I am preparing for the upcoming interview later this week on the 17th, with a company that I doubt any of you have heard before, Ecquaria. I have done some research on them; luckily they do not have such a long history or list of products that I need to read up, but that means I need to know more in depth of the only two products they have in store. I took a look at their management board as well, so that if any of them happens to be my interviewer, I can give them the great first impression by greeting them by name. I also look at the mistakes from my previous interviews so that I do not repeat them in the upcoming interview.
So that is all I have for now. This post is indeed rather uninteresting since it is basically about my life so far, and many people have enough problems to care about other people's lives and problems. I do not really care though, since I write this for my own benefit in the first place, and if anyone happens to benefit from my writings, then you are very welcome. Anyway, you can expect the next post to be about my third interview this year, so, see you then! =)
Oh I almost forgot. Very sorry for me not keeping my promise again to post my Skyrim review! It is still in the draft mode, half-finished. Since I have stopped playing for a while, I have some difficulty in finishing the post. Hope it will eventually be posted!
