A Fulfilling Break
Hi readers! It's only been a little while (somewhat) since the last post! And surprise, surprise (not really); I haven't done the thing that I said I would in my last post! I have an excuse for that, though I really shouldn't be making excuses... But anyway the excuse was that work got super busy soon that I don't have enough time for myself; I worked like almost 12 hours for all 5 days for like 2-3 weeks, plus a few hours on Saturday! I managed to keep my Sunday off though, which is a really much needed relieve for that crazy weeks. Another much needed relieve was last week's lunar new year break! I got to go back to my home town, though my break got interrupted with one day of work for a meeting that I'd rather not skip (not a meeting I couldn't skip, but I'd just rather not skip it).
Oh also, I already broke one of my new year resolution; not to ghost people! I played with my dating apps again, got matched, and didn't even say hi until the chat expires :(. Considering to spend my in-app coins to reopen the chat. Gonna put it in my list of things-I-should-do-but-would-probably-end-up-not-doing-it.
Anyway, it's great that I got to go back, since this time round I got to meet some of my friends who I haven't seen in a while, though I'm not gonna lie; I mostly looked forward to my meeting with her. It's kinda funny now that I re-read my last post about her, it kinda feels like a deja vu. Let me explain.
So in that last post, the situation was that she's free for the following 3 months and I told myself to make use of it since it's going to be very unlikely for me to hear from her again after those months (she was going to the US for studies). For some reason I totally forgot about her and life went on. Still, I got a text from her after I've returned from New York (yeah, I went to New York last year in October. Can't believe I didn't actually write about it! I must put it in the list of things-I-should-write-on-my-blog-but-would-never-actually-do-it!) Anyway, yeah the reason she texted me is because I went to the US. Actually I remembered I wanted to text her, but thinking that I'm not going to visit her anyway, I ended up not doing it. Thanks for taking the initiative when I didn't, really appreciate it :D. But I digressed.
So currently the situation is kinda similar; she's going to be free for the next 6 months and she told me to text her anytime since she's going to be super free (though she wanted to get an internship of some sort to spend her time). It's as if I'm given a second chance, with a much longer time frame lol. Anyway the story goes that she still applied to the UK university she really wanted to go to even though she has already started her first semester in the US. Long story short, she got the offer from the UK university on the first week of her second semester, dropped everything and returned to her hometown to wait for the UK academic year to start.
Quite a crazy story, yeah? Again, just like what I said in my previous post about her, listening to her talking about her life story is always very refreshing. It always surprises me of how young she is; she's not even 20 yet, and she seemed to be very sure of what she wants to do in life! I mean, she still tried to apply to another better university despite already getting an offer (and already started studying!) in a good university! I guess that's just because she's not the kind of person who would settle. Not only that though; she already knows that she's going to study medicine at some point in her life, but she wants to get a engineering degree first to get the money for that. She keeps mentioning how she knows how she's going to be quite old when she finishes everything, and that she believes that it won't matter. Of course, this part could pretty much be a young naivety, but I could be wrong. Only time will tell. I didn't tell her this though I might as well since she knows the existence of this blog so she'd probably read this sooner or later anyway.
It's also possible that people like her are actually common and I'm the anomaly; a super boring and go-with-the-flow kind of guy during my younger years but somehow that ended up well anyway.
Anyway, my meet-up with her was really refreshing for me and I hope this time round I really will actually text her sometime within the next 6 months. All the best in your life endeavours, readers!
