Not in My Wildest Dream: Google

Hi readers! Another long hiatus! And this time round I must say that I am REAL busy this semester, so much so that I was left with very little time on my own, which I spent doing something else other than updating this blog, because the little time I had was too short to do it. In case you are wondering why I have so little time this semester, refer to paragraph 2 of this post.

So anyway, the purpose of me writing this blog (damn.. I have been writing one too many emails lately, and it affects my written language) is to let you all (or maybe just my future self) know that..... I was offered an internship at Google Sydney!!!

Yep, you read that right. Me. Google. This summer.

I really do not know what to say. Or feel. Well, one would expect I should be excited, or happy at the very least. But I did not really feel those positive feelings. Not to say that I feel sad, disappointed, or any other negative feelings but.. I just don't feel the excitement that any other normal people (or computer science student, for that matter) would feel if he/she is offered a place in Google. I think it is because that it is just not in my wildest dream.

I had always thought people in Google are a bunch of people who are crazily smart, genius software engineers, computer scientists, developers, whatever. Anything that is not me. It is never a dream of mine to get into Google because I simply think that it is an impossibility. Like meeting Barrack Obama in person. Or becoming the president of Indonesia. Or dating an actress. Or... You know what I mean. Something that is not completely impossible like the world coming to an end right after I finished writing this sentence, but something that is highly improbable, but there is a slight chance that it might happen, if you are very lucky. (Phew. I finished the sentence and the world did not come to an end. Maybe I just did not trust in probability enough)

Regardless of the lack of excitement, I still look forward to the opportunity, and I am trying very hard to get my visa issued as fast as possible.

Sorry for the short update and the rather boring tone in this post. I am just very tired (I have been sleeping very little these last few days, chasing deadlines) but I feel like giving this blog an update.

I wish each and everyone of you readers the best for your future endeavours!
